ABOUT ME
Writer. Reader. Student. Nerd. From the Dwarf. Never Caffeinated Enough.

I am a writer from Adelaide, South Australia. I was born in New Zealand and moved to Adelaide with my mum when I was two. I have a sister who’s still in New Zealand – we don’t see each other nearly often enough but I love her to bits. My mum is a Project Manager, but thinking about retiring, and my dad is a retired English Teacher.

My life has been filled with books for as long as I can remember! When I was little, the first thing Mum would do when she took me shopping was give me a Golden Book to read. Though I held the book upside down more often than not, it was the beginning of a love of reading and stories that would lead to me wanting to create my own. I still have all my Golden Books, though some are in better condition than others. 10 Items or Less was always my favourite.

I went to St Peter’s Girls’ School until Year 10, then went to Charles Campbell Secondary College, and finished my schooling at the University Senior College. I went on to study a Double Degree Bachelor Teaching/Arts at the University of Adelaide, majoring in English and with a minor in History. I dropped Teaching before the final year to graduate with just the Bachelor of Arts. I have been awarded a Master of Arts (Writing) from Swinburne University of Technology. In 2016, I completed my Graduate Diploma in Research Methods at Flinders University, where I wrote a thesis on the characterisation of Irish faeries. I finished studying my Master of Arts (Editing and Publishing) at the University of Southern Queensland in 2018. I'm currently working on my PhD in Creative Writing, researching Young Adult feminist reimaginings of Irish mythology.

I was married in October 2014, and live with my husband, our toddling Sprog, an odd cat, a not-actually-that-small ‘lap-dog’ Beagle-Cavalier, two chickens who hate free-ranging, two adventurous rabbits, and one lazy turtle.

My dream is to write - anything and everything - and my brain is often teeming with too many ideas; notebooks are a must, thousands of them, hundreds of them, hidden all over so that when the muse strikes records can be kept! Thank all the deities for technology so I can write on my phone, my tablet, my laptop, my desktop and it's all in the one place. I've been writing for as long as I can remember; when I was about 5, I used to go to my mum’s office after school and type pages of random letters/numbers. I’d then print them out on my mum’s old dot-matrix printer and take them home to read to my gran.

My debut novel, unvamped, was published by Caliburn Press in 2015. It was re-published by Sleeping Dragon Books in 2017. And that was only the beginning of the adventure.

Thanks for perusing, I hope you enjoy!
